For the purposes of music, noise is borrowed and re-contextualized to add to the sonic pallet, and expand on achieving new timbres. As the noise is transformed into music, its relationship with its etymology of the Latin nausea, and associations with interruption, and obstruction are lost. The proposed work for Palimpsest #9 will be a new work belonging to a continuing research project. In response to global and local contexts, the work will be developed specifically with a site-specific response applying the locality of noise in Mildura as source material for the work. This new work will be realised through the production of kinetic sculpture, which produces sound.
