Message
from the Minister for the Arts
The Mildura Wentworth Arts Festival is a highlight of Victoria’s cultural calendar and one of Victoria’s leading regional arts events.
Now in its 15th year, the Festival brings together some of the best local, national and international artists for a three week celebration of arts, culture and community.
With a diverse mix of cabaret, film, theatre, visual arts, music and comedy the Festival offers something for everyone.
It also offers what no other festival can, the unique beauty of the Sunraysia region. From the spectacular Perry Sandhills and the Lock, to the local streets, galleries and theatres, the region comes alive with the energy and creativity of the Festival.
Festivals like this one bring fantastic arts and cultural experiences to regional communities, they attract visitors, contribute to the local economy and help to create
a vibrant cultural life in the region.
For these reasons and more, the Victorian Government is proud to be a major supporter of the Mildura Wentworth Arts Festival.
Enjoy the 2009 Festival!

Message
from the Vice Chancellor
and President of La Trobe University
The Arts are vitally important to La Trobe University on a variety
of levels and that’s why we are proud to contribute once again
to bringing the Mildura Wentworth Arts Festival to life.
This year, our Visual Arts Research Studio in Chaffey Ave (on the arts precinct) is commissioned and in use and the first Masters students in visual arts will be articulating from the honours programme at Mildura.
La Trobe University is a great supporter of visual and performing arts in regional Victoria through our educational programs, research and the sponsorship of awards, events and exhibitions.
With programs such as “The Edge of The Outback”, where International students explore the Australian outback landscape through photography, and our central role in the Murray Darling Palimpsest, La Trobe University Mildura, fosters artistic connections across Australia and around the globe. I wish the people of Mildura and the region every success with this year’s exciting and diverse program of culture and arts.
